A report of a study into successful ageing conducted in 2008 by Rick Swindell from U3A Online and a group of U3A researchers has ascribed a value of more than $21m to Australian U3A voluntarism in 2008. "This dollar amount, coupled with data from other parts of this report, provide clear evidence of the breadth, extent and value of U3A services in both financial and social terms" Swindell, R. et al, "U3As in Australia and New Zealand 2008: The Successful Ageing organisations", p. 45
