Choir and Music Ensemble


Choir

The U3A City Choir, formed in 1990, has about 40 members and its primary aim is enjoyment.   The choir sings part songs and some unison songs. The U3A Choir
Membership of the U3A City Choir requires membership of U3A Melbourne City and enrolment in the course, U3A City Choir.
The choir meets weekly at the Welsh Church Hall, LaTrobe Street, on a Wednesday morning from 10am to 11.30 am.

Recent and Forthcoming Concerts 

  • 9th October, 2009 - Spring Concert, Welsh Church Hall.  The choir sang from a broad repertoire including psalms, negro spirituals and works by Mendelssohn, Verdi, Sondheim, and a medley from Fiddler on the Roof. Guest violinist, Juliette Zeelander [link to tutor profile], director of our U3A Music Ensemble, accompanied by Avara Becirevic on piano, played a piece by Debussy, En Bateau from the Petite Suite and a Mozart adagio.   
  • 16th October, 2009 - Rushall Park Retirement Village, North Fitzroy
  • 4th October, 2009 - BMW Edge, Federation Square
  • 2nd December 2009 - Christmas Concert, Welsh Church Hall

Music Ensemble

The U3A Melbourne City Music Ensemble was formed in 2002.  We play for our enjoyment as well our audience, but do work quite hard in the session.  Come and try us out, you will be welcome!

Membership of the Music Ensemble requires membership of U3A Melbourne City and enrolment in the U3A Melbourne City course Music Ensemble.  For information about how to join U3A Melbourne City, click here.

Rehearsals are held every Monday from 1.00 to 3.00 pm in the Welsh Church Hall, La Trobe Street.

Repertoire:  Classical, musicals, songs, etc.

Concerts:  Christmas and nursing home concerts
