Lean Chew


Tutoring in: Art
 
Lean Chew taught English and General Paper in Singapore before leaving full time teaching in her mid-career to pursue an art education. After completing a BA degree course with RMIT, she taught art and design in Singapore at the Extra-mural Department of the National University of Singapore, LaSalle SIA College of the Arts and La Salle International School of Fashion. In 1999, Lean migrated to Australia with her husband, and took part in several art exhibitions in Melbourne. She continued teaching art and design-related subjects at Box Hill TAFE and Swinburne TAFE and the Arts Academy, Ballarat University.
 
Lean held seven solo exhibitions between 1994 and 2006, including four in Melbourne. She was Artist-in-Residence at the Arts Academy, Ballarat University in 2009. Her work is collected by Singapore Art Museum, Singapore Armed Forces, Singapore Police Force and by private collectors in Australia, Singapore, Brunei and Canada.  Her recent artwork may be viewed at https://www.saatchiart.com/Chewleanim
 
Lean retired in 2016 after teaching in Brunei for eleven years. Her current interests include making paper bowls and creative writing.
